Lynn Philip Dann, 99, of Oxford, PA, formerly of Owego N.Y., passed away on Monday, December 30 at Chester County Hospital in West Chester, PA, surrounded by his family. Phil was born September 11, 1925 in Watkins Glen, N.Y, son of Lynn Bruce Dann and Violet Smith Dann. He was married for 72 years to Ellen Louise (Groce) Dann. Phil was a graduate of Addison High School and Broome County Technical College. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II, serving from 1943 to 1946. Phil began his career as an electrical engineer with the Corning Glass Company and then with IBM until his retirement. Phil was a member of the Owego Elks and for many years was active in the Methodist Church and the Red Cross. Surviving are his children, Dr. Lynn Philip Dann II (Kathleen Breedlove) of Sylva, NC, Kathleen Hall (Rev. Dr. Gregory) of West Grove, PA and Donalyn Key (Steven) of Strasburg, VA, 6 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and sister, RuAnn Thompson. He will also be mourned as father figure to the family of James Dann. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, son Joel Dann and his sisters Nelda and Joyce. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, January 11 at 10:30 am at the Woodhull Cemetery Chapel on the grounds of Woodhull Cemetery, Woodhull, NY Burial with military honors will follow in Woodhull Cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested for the American Red Cross. The H.P. Smith & Son Funeral Home of Woodhull is handling arrangements.
