Obituary of Evelyn Jean Doan

Evelyn Jean Doan, 89, of Osceola PA passed away on January 2, 2025 at her son and daughters-in-law home where they took care of her while she was on Hospice. Jean was born on January 25, 1935, in Austinburg, PA to the late Kenneth and Helen (Payne) Sawyer. She was a social member of the Knoxville Firehall and sat as a board member of the Osceola Presbyterian Church for many years. Everyone knew Jean for her love of cats and was well known for feeding and caring for the local strays in Osceola. She had a deep love for her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren and had a special place in her heart for her church family and enjoyed the times spent together during church. Surviving Jean is her Daughter: Laurie (Boe) Boyer of Knoxville PA; Son: Jimmy (Missy) Doan of Osceola PA; Grandchildren: Kayla Doan (Daron Aumick), Michael (Jessica) Doan, Donna VanOrsdale, Curtis Boyer, Cara Boyer, Craig Boyer, Ashley (Zach) Fish, Brittany (Ryan) Rumsey, Chrissy (Chris)Halme, Kathy (John) Riff; ten Great Grandchildren with another due in February; Brothers: Neil Sawyer of Wayland NY, Larry Sawyer of San Angelo TX; Sisters: Kay Kelts of Knoxville PA, Paula (Carl) LeBarron of Troupsburg NY; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides her parents, Jean was predeceased by her Husband: James Doan Jr. on July 23, 2014; Son: Ricky Doan on July 6, 2023; Sister: Rita Pond; Brothers: Donald Sawyer, Gary Sawyer, Richard Sawyer, and Robert (Bobby) Sawyer A public viewing will be held on Monday, January 13, 2025, at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc., Funeral Home, 1607 Mainstreet, Woodhull NY 14898 from 11:00AM to 1:00PM with a funeral to follow at 1:00PM with Rev. Ed Siddle officiating. Burial will take place in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Austinburg PA.
