Obituary of Lonnie J. McChesney

Lonnie J. McChesney, 57, of Fairway Road, Corning, NY passed away at home on Sunday. June 16, 2013 following a brief illness. Born in Elmira, NY on March 15, 1956, Lonnie was the son of Donald M. and Juanita Morter McChesney. On July 29, 1978, he and the former Diane Maxwell were married at the Presho United Methodist Church. Lonnie was employed by Rhinehart Sand and Gravel in East Corning for over 20 years. He joined Dalrymple Gravel & Contracting Company in 1992 and was the blacktop plant operator at their Fisherville plant in Big Flats. He was a classic car enthusiast and loved attending car shows and sharing stories with other car lovers. Lonnie was a hard working man who loved and cared for his family. He especially savored time spent with his precious grandchildren. Lonnie loved working with tools and had a great collection of various tools. Surviving is his wife of nearly 35 years, Diane McChesney of Corning, his children and their spouses, Chad and Amber McChesney of Beaver Dams and Melissa and Raymond Hendrick of Corning, his beloved grandchildren, Brandon McChesney and Natalie Hendrick, his sister in law, Linda McChesney of Addison, his nephews, John (Joy) McChesney of Addison and Shawn (Christine) McChesney of Beaver Dams along with great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald McChesney and Juanita McChesney and his brother, John McChesney. Friends may call on Wednesday, June 19 from 5-8 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Funeral services will be held privately for his family. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery, Corning, NY.
