Addison, NY | Ruth I. Coon, 98, of 43 Williams St., Addison, NY, entered into rest Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at Absolut Care at Three Rivers, Painted Post, NY. Born in Gaines, PA, September 21, 1915, she was the daughter of Abram & Daisy Wright Mattison. Educated at Elkland, PA High School, she was for several years the medical secretary for Dr. John Horn. She was an active member of the 1st Presbyterian Church of Addison, NY. She married Porter D. Coon, December 18, 1934; he preceded her in death July 11, 1996. She is also preceded in death by daughter & son-in-law, Diane & Elmer Bliss, her son, Porter D. (Buzz) Coon II, and grandchildren, Vickie McKenzie & Jeffrey Coon. She is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, Randolph & Erna Coon of the Villages, Florida; grandchildren, Joseph (Christine) VanGorden of Painted Post, Michael VanGorden of Pineville, NC, Patrick VanGorden of Hornell, and Jennifer Coon of Raleigh, NC;4 great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews. Friends are invited to call 1:00pm, Friday, September 12th at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St., Woodhull, NY, where funeral services will be conducted immediately following at 2:00pm. The Rev. Dr. Peter R. Marr will officiate.
