I was cleaning out my office and ran across this picture. Sam has been on my mind so I googled her name and found out she had passed away....Many years have passed since I have seen you but you are and will always live in my heart. Rest easy sweet girl...I will remember you always.

I had the pleasure of being Sam's Occupational Therapist at VEW preschool in Bath and at the Valley School. I am not surprised at all she has accomplished in her short life. She was a dynamo from the day I met her. Learning to use her power chair and various other equipment at such a rapid pace! I have thought of her often through the years and all she taught me. I have never had another student quite like her. My deepest sympathy goes to her wonderful family and caretakers especially Nurse Cathy who came to school with her. May God bless you all and give you strength in the days ahead. _�'�

I remember Sam from when I was a student at Addison Central School. Although we haven't talk to each other very much, I saw her as an upbeat person who always had a smile on her face. And I will always remember that. To her family, friends, and the Class of 2006, you have my condolences.

On June 23, 2006, I had the task of helping our class say goodbye to high school. We tossed our tassels in the air, not knowing where they might land or if they'd ever be together again. Here I sit at my computer, nearly 10 years after that day, communicating with a class that's come back together, to say goodbye once again. There's a certain irony here - because Samantha Hoad kept us together, no matter where we went. She kept tabs on our lives, always asking how we were doing, making sure everything was OK, and letting us know she'd listen when it wasn't. Her struggles often made our trials and tribulations seem mundane, but she never made us feel that way. On behalf of the Class of 2006, I can wholeheartedly say Sam was a once-in-a-lifetime person. As long as we live, we'll never have the honor of knowing someone quite like her because being a better person than she is impossible. We are all better people because we had the pleasure of growing up with, being friends with, and getting through some of the most tumultuous years of our lives with Samantha Hoad. Goodbye, Sam.

James, Tammy, Jamie, Stacey and Hallie I am so sorry for your loss and shocked at the same time. Sam was such a loving and accepting young woman and as you all know, not afraid to try ANYTHING. I know I haven't been down to see her or all of you for quite awhile now but that doesn't mean that I don't hold a special place in my heart for all of you. I remember when Sam was just a little one growing up and I always admired her. This world is a little worse off without her.
