Carl was born January 26, 1936 in Oneonta to Paul P. and Emma (Irons) Chase. On the fourth of July in 1959 in Palmyra, NY he married the love of his life, the former Marilyn Brigham, who survives and resides in Canisteo. From the early age of 14, Carl was employed at the Beaver Pharmacy in Canisteo from 1951 to 1970. From 1970 to 1997 he owned and operated the Beaver Pharmacy until 1997. After the sale of the pharmacy he continued to work substituting as pharmacist from time to time until officially retiring in 2005. Carl's membership, both past and present, and civic accomplishments included being a member of the U.B. Pharmacy Alumni Association, former member of the Pharmacists Association of Western N.Y., the Pharmaceutical Society of N.Y. State and the American Pharmaceutical Association. He was a chartered member of the Maple City Lions Club where he was past president and awarded the Melvin Jones Fellow "Lion of the Year" in 2016. He was a former member of the Canisteo First State Bank Board of Directors (since 1979) and member of the Canisteo Fire Dept. since 1958 with 57 years of service. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Canisteo, a member of Morning Star #65 F & AM, a life member of the Kanesteo Historical Society and former member of the Canisteo Chamber of Commerce. Carl's other interests included the construction of many dollhouses that were donated for many local benefits, his many golf outings with his friends and the "Breakfast Club". He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play in various sports throughout the years and was a devoted Buffalo Bills and N.Y. Yankees fan. Carl also enjoyed the many trips with Marilyn throughout the country and different parts of the world. His gentle nature and poised character was well appreciated throughout the Canisteo community and will be greatly missed.
