My heartfelt condolences to all in Neil's passing. Had the honor of being a classmate of Neil's at the Penn State Forestry School at Mont Alto Campus. Reconnected with him many years later on Facebook though we lived a few miles apart in Pennsylvania. Neil was truly a kind and gentle person who exemplified everything that is good and left this world a better place. God bless.

I have a lot of good memories of my teenage years with Neil. I remember it was his pigeon Barney that he found at the house on Old Cedar Grove Rd in Broomall that started us on the road to raising and racing over a hundred pigeons that we continued to do through high school. My father introduced me to fishing, but it was Neil who induced it to become a great enthusiasm. We fished many farm ponds in the Chester and Delaware County area, and in particular spent countless hours trying to catch the ‘monster’ fish that lived in the lake at Radley Run. We worked at the Common Wheel bike shop in West Chester, and in fact ran it ourselves while the owner was away on his honeymoon for a week. We regularly rode the 10-speeds we bought there from West Chester to Newtown Square and beyond; those were the days when as kids we had little fear of contending with the traffic on Route 3. I remember the great fun we had flying kites from the top of the hills at the South Campus of West Chester State and from the deck of the rented house in Stone Harbor, dive bombing the cars as they drove by on the bridge until the cops asked us to kindly cease and desist. I remember the excitement we had of getting pulled behind the cars on our sleds at night as they went down South New St, and then walking to end up at the highest point in Chester County, and sledding down the mile-long hill past the farmhouse with the big dog that came out and chased us as we went past. I remember the great fun we had in the neighborhood football games afterschool and on weekends and holidays, first on the backyard next to Mike Rivers’ house, then on the fields at the South Campus.
As an adult, Neil didn’t hesitate to help me work to stop the premature sale of the family farm. Doing so, he opened himself to expected and indeed forthcoming intense criticism. But, he didn’t like the injustice of what was being done, and wanted to do what he could to help fight it. He did this as much for my Great-Aunt Esther as for me, as he had come to know her well during the years he visited her while checking on the property she could no longer walk about and keep an eye on.
My daughter Amanda remembers his warmth and affection and especially his bear hugs.
I am sorry that an illness prevents me from being there to share the family’s grief and pay my respects in person. His gain is our loss, and I will miss him on this earth.
Step-brother John

In thinking about Neil, I realize he was a kind and considerate man. He was a sharing person, just look at his Facebook page. I don't know what to say that is simple and supports those that miss him, as he would probably want. I do remember reading once the ancient Egyptians believed that upon death they would be asked two questions and their answers would determine whether they could continue their journey in the afterlife. The first question was, Did you bring joy? The second was, Did you find joy? Neil could easily answer YES to both. I will miss you Neil. Please remember me.

Carol... though we’ve never met... I feel like I know you... Neil spoke highly of you and his love for you and your family... it saddens me to hear of his passing... though Neil and I haven’t seen each other in years... I still considered him a friend... knew him since he was a teenager... worked on his “ junk” cars many times.. lol... whenever I would hear Neil’s name... it brought a smile to my face... truely one of the good guys... he will be missed by many... so sad for your loss... my heart goes out to you and your family.

Sad to hear the news of Neil's passing. We hung out quite a bit in the adolescent years, and social media proves he maintained a wide network of friends. I will remember him as an avid outdoorsman, especially his love of fishing. My condolences to his family and friends.

Neil was one of my oldest and dearest friends. I have so many fond memories of this good man. I harvested my first whitetail buck in his presence and he harvested his first whitetail buck in mine. We shared our fascination and love for the outdoors for many years from young teenagers to grown men. Whether it was pheasant hunting with our dogs, or hoping on our 10 speeds to go trout fishing at Ridley creek our time together was always an adventure. I will be forever grateful for his friendship. Over the years even though the miles between us became distant, we always kept in touch and I will miss our frequent conversations. Without his influence in my life, I would not be the man I am today.
