Obituary of Philip K. Riff
Philp K. Riff of Addison, NY passed away on Sunday Mar. 10 surrounded by his loved ones. Phil was born on Sept. 9, 1949 in the Corning Hospital to John Riff, Jr. and Dorothy Hodge Riff.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Deborah Stiles Riff, his sons John (Kathryn) and Kevin, his grandchildren Paige (Joseph) Saltsman and Braeden Riff, and great granddaughter Callie Saltsman all from Addison, NY. He is also survived by his maternal aunt and uncle, Ronald and Rachel Hodge of Corning, NY, his brothers David (Marilyn) and Thomas (Judy) of Caton, NY, Steven of Painted Post, NY, Robert (Sue) of Boonville, NY and his sister Linda (Brian) Saunders of Winston Salem, NC and several nephews and nieces.
Phil was employed as a pipefitter for Corning, Inc. for 25 years before retiring. In his 20s he was an avid bowler and placed 2nd in NYS Bowling Tournament. He coached men’s softball, and Babe Ruth Youth Baseball and was a Cub Scout Leader for 6 years in Caton, NY and Elkand, PA. One of his favorite hobbies in retirement was woodworking. He made beautiful furniture and crafts for home and for gifts. He loved to travel with his family and had visited 39 states and 5 Canadian Provinces. For 46 years he vacationed in White Lake, ONT and for the past 25 years spent the entire summer there where he enjoyed fishing, boating, and water sports with his family and friends. Phil was a wonderful family man who will be missed by all who knew him.
On Sat. Mar. 23 from 2:00-4:00 pm the family will be receiving visitors at his home with a private funeral for family and close friends immediately following.
