Chuck and Jean Cutler posted a condolence

It was just a few short days ago that my son said, “Mom, I think Walt died.” A simple sentence that has consumed my thoughts and prayers ever since. Walt (of Walt and Jane fame) has been an important part of my family’s life from the moment we moved next door in 1972. Walt and Jane became our second parents and best friends within days. For next 25 years we were neighbors and family. Chuck and I and our children are the better for having grown up next door to these wonderful people. Now, part of “Walt and Jane” has left the neighborhood, but we will always remember him there whistling for the kids to come home, or trying to get the birds out of his beech tree (with a gun), or riding his motorcycle, or calling for Yankee (I loved that dog), or just sitting on the patio on summers’ evenings . Our kids remember countless things that Walt and Jane did for them: trips to the pig farm to see piglets, Sunday drives, the circular swing that Walt put up for their use, Ritchie’s stilts, motorcycle rides, and endless games of HORSE on the drive. Our thoughts and prayers are with Jane and the family. I know that whenever I hear the clink of horseshoes, I will always be taken back to those wonderful years with our friend Walt. Rest in peace old friend, and we love you, Jane.
